Our lovely converted 17th century farmhouse
can fit 11 people comfortably, perfect for two families or a
group of friends who want to holiday together. The large kitchen,
with its long refectory table and Rayburn in the corner, is
ideal for those big holiday breakfasts and dinners. We have
two living rooms, one with a television, video and DVD (perhaps
the TV and games room for the youngsters?), the other with a
CD player, and both with real fires. The house is in the heart
of the village, just behind the village pub, the Buck Inn, which
serves good food and excellent ales.
The house itself is set in a quiet courtyard, with stunning
views up to Buckden Pike, the hill that rises sharply behind
the village. There's an open patio with a built-in barbecue,
ready for that perfect summer's evening.
Buckden is very, very picturesque. It’s a small village and
farming is still central to the community; there is one working
farm in the village itself and another two or three just up
the valley. Buckden is remote (although certainly not isolated)
and it really feels like you’ve got away from it all. The beauty
of the neat, drystone-walled fields in the valley, combined
with the rugged, wind-swept hills is breathtaking – and what
with the bag-fuls of fresh air, spending any time there is a
genuinely invigorating experience. Come to Buckden and rejuvenate!
Clifford House Farm is available for self-catering short-term
holiday lets, from long weekends to full weeks. Although it's
self-catering, we provide bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels.
And you don't always have to eat in - there are plenty of options
to eat out, either in the village itself, or in the surrounding
area - click here for
a list of recommendations. All the information you need about
the house, the pricing and the booking conditions is contained
on this website. To view comments left by some of our previous

Clifford House Farm is owned by a group of friends who have
all fallen in love with the beauty of the valleys, lanes, villages
and hills of this breathtaking part of England. We all holiday
in the house ourselves, several times a year, relishing that
first pint of Old Peculier and stiff walk up the path to Cray
as we make the long journey up the M1! We certainly hope that
you will also leave at the end of your holiday with the same
fondness that we all have for the village and the dale.
